DES MOINES, Iowa (Nov. 30, 2022) — With draws against Wales and England and a win over Iran in the Group Stage of the World Cup, the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team has secured its position in the Round of 16 — the knockout round of the competition. To celebrate, Pro Iowa, the organization formed to bring professional soccer to Iowa, and the Des Moines Menace will host a free watch party on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. at The Hall, located at 111 S. 11th St. in West Des Moines. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with standing room available as well. Fans are encouraged to RSVP online here.

“We’re thrilled the USA has advanced to the Knockout Stage,” said Kyle Davy, director of revenue for Pro Iowa. “More than 1,500 Iowans attended our group stage watch parties, and we look forward to adding to that number this weekend. The USA vs. the Netherlands watch party at The Hall on Saturday morning will provide an electric atmosphere for fans to gather to watch the world’s game on the biggest stage.”

To date, Pro Iowa and the Des Moines Menace have hosted seven watch parties at local establishments throughout the Des Moines metro. More than 1,500 Iowans have attended the watch parties, including an impressive 700 for the USA vs. England event at Big Grove Brewery last Friday, Nov. 25.

“The community’s response to our watch parties has been amazing,” Davy said. “We hope to continue that momentum into the Round of 16, starting with a chance to watch the USA take on the Netherlands. Future watch parties for other international teams will be announced in the coming days, including an event for the World Cup Final on Dec. 18.”

All watch parties hosted by Pro Iowa and the Des Moines Menace are family-friendly and open-house style. Reservations are not required to attend but are encouraged. Those who register for watch parties will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes to win prizes including $100 gift cards from host locations as well as a 65-inch flat screen TV from Hisense. Sweepstakes winners will be announced on Dec. 18 prior to the championship match. Additionally, one more 65-inch flat screen TV from Hisense will be reserved for a winner who attends the Dec. 18 final event in person. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at each event location depending upon the establishment’s availability.

Pro Iowa and the Des Moines Menace are still in the process of securing locations for future matches featuring other international teams. Future watch parties will be listed here, online when they are confirmed.
