DES MOINES, Iowa (June 29, 2022) — The Iowa Soccer Development Foundation (ISDF) is pleased to announce new contributions to its capital campaign — funding that will support the development of the Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza. Prairie Meadows Casino and Hotel has announced ISDF as a recipient of a Legacy Grant through its Legacy Grant Program in the amount of $186,000. Additionally, ISDF received a $100,000 endowment from Merchants Bonding and a $50,000 gift from GreenState Credit Union.

“The ISDF is honored to receive a Legacy Grant from Prairie Meadows, in addition to endowments from GreenState Credit Union and Merchants Bonding,” said Dan Jansen, Program Manager of the Iowa Soccer Development Foundation. “At ISDF, we’re passionate about bringing people together through the world’s game — soccer. We’re thrilled these partners recognize that the Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza will bring tremendous benefits to central Iowa residents and businesses alike.”

Prairie Meadows Legacy Grant Program
The Prairie Meadows Legacy Grant Program provides funding for large-scale, signature projects in central Iowa. This program is a significant resource for enhancing the community and revitalizing the Greater Des Moines area.

“As a nonprofit organization, Prairie Meadows fulfills its mission by giving back to organizations that support arts and culture, education, economic development and human services,” said Julie Stewart, Vice President of Community Relations with Prairie Meadows, in an announcement about the grant.

The ISDF — a 501(c)(3) — was established in 2019 to design and build the Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza. The Foundation also prioritizes serving underserved, at-risk youth. Because of this, the ISDF received another gift — a Youth Sports and Recreational Grant — from Prairie Meadows in late 2021 and looks forward to allocating those funds to better serve youth and connect them to the soccer community.

Merchants Bonding
The mission of the Merchants Bonding Company Foundation is to provide support to nonprofit organizations to improve the communities they serve and enrich the lives of children within those communities — something they’re confident their $100,000 gift to ISDF will help achieve.

“This project serves the community on multiple levels,” said Merchants Bonding President Larry Taylor. “Not only does it provide a healthy outlet for at-risk kids, but it creates a standout amenity here in central Iowa that we believe will be another great way to help the business community attract and retain our workforce.”

GreenState Credit Union
GreenState Credit Union’s community relations mission is to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves by giving back to local charities and organizations that help these communities thrive.

“GreenState is thrilled to join the movement to support the Pro Iowa project,” states Tara Wachendorf, VP/Public Relations Director for GreenState Credit Union. “Not only will this revitalize a portion of downtown Des Moines, but it will be a welcoming and necessary cultural attraction for Iowans throughout the state.”

With the $50,000 endowment from GreenState Credit Union, $100,000 from Merchants Bonding and $186,000 from the Prairie Meadows Legacy Grant, the ISDF has raised more than $22.25 million in private funding — bringing them closer to their $25 million goal.
