Pro Iowa, I-Cubs, Wolves, Barnstormers, Buccaneers, Menace Give Kids Fun During COVID-19
Des Moines, Iowa, (June 24, 2020) — They never share a court, rink, field or pitch, but several teams across Des Moines have united to offer children and families a reprieve from the boredom that may come from canceled activities, plans and trips during the coronavirus pandemic — the “My Des Moines Sports Activity Book.”
Filled with coloring pages and puzzles, the book was created by Pro Iowa, the campaign working to bring professional soccer to Iowa, with help from the Iowa Cubs, Iowa Wolves, Iowa Barnstormers, Des Moines Buccaneers and Des Moines Menace organizations. Each organization contributed customized coloring sheets and puzzles like connect the dots and patterns that add a special sense of teamwork, and show various athletes and sports intermingling in ways not seen in real life.
“We’re facing unprecedented times, and it’s hard for everyone, including children, as normal activities and sports are postponed or canceled,” said Kyle Davy, Pro Iowa spokesperson. “We wanted to find a way to show support for some of our biggest fans while giving them something fun to do. We’re very excited to have collaborated with our friends at the I-Cubs, Barnstormers, Wolves, Bucs and Menace. It’s proof that when we come together, great things can happen.”
The free activity book can be downloaded from any of the involved teams’ websites and ProIowa.com.

About Pro Iowa: The Pro Iowa campaign is our opportunity to put Central Iowa center stage, highlighting our community and current momentum through the development of a multi-use stadium, and its programming, to spur economic vitality, increase tourism and showcase Iowa by attracting regional and national events.
The campaign is also about bringing soccer fans together — Pro Iowa looks to bring professional soccer to Iowa through a collective public-private partnership. This is the only way to bring the required soccer-specific stadium and the USL Championship League to Des Moines. Learn more or show your support at ProIowa.com.
